Lesson 2 – Siddhartha Guatama – Part Two

Siddhartha Guatama, ‘the Buddha’

In this session, we will be exploring the First Noble Truth, the three marks of existence and the five heaps, whose misapprehension leads to our illusory notion of self.

The relevant readings are attached below. Again beware of the monastic energy that has infiltrated them.

Setting the Wheel of the Dhamma in Motion Readings

When reading them ponder the following three questions:

  • The First Noble Truth is simple, yet profound. What is it and its implications for our lives?
  • How does the Buddha break down our illusion of self?
  • What is the interrelationship between feelings, volitions and consciousness?
