This course is the third in a series of courses which aim to introduce participants to the long lineage of teachers and teachings of the Ageless Wisdom from Hermes through to the twentieth century.
Appropriately it will focus on five teachers of Ancient Greece, Orpheus, Pythagoras, Empedocles, Socrates and Plato, whose teachings transcend any time or place and are of direct relevance to us all now. Unfortunately, for three of these teachers, Orpheus, Pythagoras and Socrates, none of the teachings that have come down to us are directly from them; what we know of them are due to writings by later followers. For Empedocles, we have fragments of his writings and for Plato an extensive corpus. But in all cases ,it is important to bring careful energetic discernment to reading all of these materials, and such readings will be a focus of the course to draw out the true Livingness within them.
This Course is For Everyone Who Wishes to Know Our True History
All of us have been taught history in school and have mostly been bored by it, all the fragments: facts and figures, kings and wars. We see little relevance of any of this to our own lives. But the history we have been taught is mostly a smokescreen of what the true history of humanity and our civilisations has been about – the continual evolution of our awareness. That true history is the story of the teachers of the Ageless Wisdom, and it is being told here so that we can all understand who we really are and how we have arrived at this era. Their teachings are still very relevant – the dilemmas they faced and the choices they made are no different from those that we encounter today, and their teachings offer us powerful signposts to living responsible and loving lives.
